The Case For a Full Tear Off
Re-Roofing your home should start with a complete tear off of your old roof. When you install a new roof over top of the old one, you are guaranteeing that it does not make it to the end of its’ normal useful life. Installing a roof on top of an old roof will lead to a shorter lifespan and could create other problems. It might be legal, and it might be cheaper, but it usually isn’t the best option.
When we tear off the existing roofing materials it gives us the opportunity to check the roof decking and ensure that there are no rotten or wet areas. It also ensures that the surface we install your new roof on is clean and smooth. A new roof is a big investment and you want to make sure it is done right. It isn’t worth saving a few bucks for a roof that you will have to replace twice as fast. Which is why we always tear off the old roof first.
If you are considering a roof replacement or need a second opinion on if it needs a repair or a new roof give Veterans Roofing and Siding a call. Our reliable roofers will be able to provide you with several options for new roof materials, colors, and accessories.
